Crafting the hats

Every hat in Useful Hats is made at a crafting table using a shaped recipe. Place the ingredients in the pattern shown in the recipe book to produce the hat. The full set is: Aquanaut Helmet, Bunny Ears, Chopping Hat, Ender Helmet, Halo, Lucky Hat, Mining Hat, Mushroom Hat, Postman Hat, Shulker Helmet, Stocking Cap, Straw Hat, and Wing Helmet.

Open the recipe book in your crafting table and search the hat name to see its exact grid. Gather the base materials each hat calls for, then arrange them in the shaped pattern. Shaped recipes require the ingredients in specific slots, so follow the grid rather than dropping items in randomly.

Dyeing hats

Each hat also has a dye recipe. Combine the hat with a dye at a crafting table to change its color. This uses the crafting_dye recipe type, so any hat can be recolored without losing it. Dye a Straw Hat, Stocking Cap, or Bunny Ears to match your build, then re-dye it later if you change your mind.

Getting started

Pick one hat to craft first. The Mining Hat and Chopping Hat are practical early targets because their materials are common. Once you have a hat, wear it in the helmet slot and check its effect in game. Craft the rest as you collect materials, and dye each one to suit your look.
