How to Craft and Dye Every Useful Hats Hat

Crafting the hats

All thirteen hats are made with a shaped crafting recipe at a normal crafting table: Aquanaut Helmet, Bunny Ears, Chopping Hat, Ender Helmet, Halo, Lucky Hat, Mining Hat, Mushroom Hat, Postman Hat, Shulker Helmet, Stocking Cap, Straw Hat, and Wing Helmet. Lay the ingredients out in the pattern the recipe book shows for the hat you want, then take the finished hat from the result slot.

Recolouring with dye

Every hat also has a dye recipe. Put the hat and a dye of your choice into the crafting grid to swap its colour. Because the dye recipe exists for all thirteen hats, you can recolour any of them the same way — Aquanaut Helmet, Bunny Ears, Chopping Hat, Ender Helmet, Halo, Lucky Hat, Mining Hat, Mushroom Hat, Postman Hat, Shulker Helmet, Stocking Cap, Straw Hat, and Wing Helmet all accept dye.

Practical order

Craft the hat whose look you want first, then dye it to match your skin or base. If you are unsure which hat to make, pick one, dye it, and wear it — you can always craft another and dye that one a different colour. Keep spare dye on hand so you can recolour a hat without recrafting it.
