Choosing and Using the Right Useful Hat

Pick a hat, craft it, wear it

There are thirteen hats: Aquanaut Helmet, Bunny Ears, Chopping Hat, Ender Helmet, Halo, Lucky Hat, Mining Hat, Mushroom Hat, Postman Hat, Shulker Helmet, Stocking Cap, Straw Hat, and Wing Helmet. Each is made with a shaped crafting recipe at a crafting table. Choose the one you want, follow its recipe pattern, and take it from the result slot.

Recolour to match

Every hat has a dye recipe. Put the hat and a dye into the crafting grid to change its colour. This applies to all thirteen, so you can dye an Aquanaut Helmet, Bunny Ears, Chopping Hat, Ender Helmet, Halo, Lucky Hat, Mining Hat, Mushroom Hat, Postman Hat, Shulker Helmet, Stocking Cap, Straw Hat, or Wing Helmet to whatever colour you prefer.

Swap between hats

Wear your chosen hat in the helmet slot. To switch, take it off and equip a different one. If you want two hats in different colours, craft two of the same hat and dye each one separately. Keep the dyes for the colours you use most so you can recolour a hat without hunting for materials again.
