How to Use the Backpack Filter Configurator

What the Configurator Does

The Backpack Filter Configurator is the tool for changing how a backpack's filter behaves. It exists as both an item you can carry and a block you can place in the world. Reach for it whenever an Auto Pickup Filter (Item) or Auto Pickup Filter (Tag) is not picking up what you want, or is picking up too much.

Configuring a Filter

Hold the Backpack Filter Configurator and use it on the filter or backpack you want to adjust. The configurator lets you set which items or tags the filter matches, so you can retarget an existing filter instead of crafting a new one every time your needs change.

If you prefer a fixed workstation, place the Backpack Filter Configurator as a block. Keep it near your storage area so you can walk up, adjust a filter, and drop it back onto a backpack in one trip.

A clean routine: craft the Auto Pickup Filter (Item) or Auto Pickup Filter (Tag) you need, apply it to a backpack, then use the Backpack Filter Configurator to tune the match. When your base changes — new farm, new mining route — revisit the configurator and update the filter rather than starting over.
