How to Set Up Auto Pickup with the Auto Pickup Filter (Item) and (Tag)

Choosing Between Item and Tag Filters

The mod gives you two filter items for automatic pickup: Auto Pickup Filter (Item) and Auto Pickup Filter (Tag). Use the Item version when you want to whitelist or blacklist specific items by their exact identity. Use the Tag version when you want to match a whole group of items that share a tag, so one filter covers every item in that group.

Applying a Filter to a Backpack

Craft the filter you need, then combine it with your backpack. The filter is what tells the backpack which drops to pull in automatically as you play. Put the Auto Pickup Filter (Item) or Auto Pickup Filter (Tag) together with the backpack in the crafting grid so the backpack carries the filter setting.

If you want to change what a filter targets after the fact, use the Backpack Filter Configurator. It is both an item and a placeable block, and it exists specifically to let you adjust filter behaviour without recrafting the filter from scratch.

A practical workflow: craft one Auto Pickup Filter (Tag) for common bulk drops, and one Auto Pickup Filter (Item) for the specific items you care about most. Apply each to a backpack, then fine-tune with the Backpack Filter Configurator whenever your needs change.
