How to Use Beachgrass, Thatch, and the Bedroll

Beachgrass and Thatch

Beachgrass grows on sandy shorelines. Harvest it to get Beachgrass, which you can place back as decoration or process into Beachgrass Thatch. From Beachgrass Thatch you can craft:

• Beachgrass Thatch Slab
• Beachgrass Thatch Stairs

Use a stonecutter or the crafting grid to convert Thatch into slabs and stairs. Thatch blocks are a light, straw-colored building material that pairs well with Coralstone and wood. Use slabs for paths and stairs for gentle elevation changes along a beach base.

The Bedroll

Bedroll is a portable sleeping block. Place it on the ground and use it to sleep through the night without setting a spawn point the way a full bed does. This makes it useful for exploration along coastlines where you do not want to commit to a base location. Carry a Bedroll in your inventory and place it wherever you stop for the night.

Building a Coastal Camp

Combine Beachgrass Thatch Stairs and Slabs for walkways, Beachgrass for ground cover, and a Bedroll for sleeping. Add Blue Jelly Torch or Blue Jelly Wall Torch for lighting. Coralstone Slab and Coralstone Stairs from any coral color can frame the camp. Chiseled Driftwood Bookshelf works as an interior detail if you build a small shelter. Keep a Bucket of Perch or Bucket of Pike nearby and cook them on a campfire for food while you build.
