How to Get and Use Coral Fans and Coral Blocks

Collecting Coral

Each coral type has a living form, a block form, and fan forms. For Acan Coral you get Acan Coral, Acan Coral Block, Acan Coral Fan, and Acan Coral Wall Fan. The same four-part set exists for Branch Coral, Chrome Coral, Finger Coral, and Moss Coral. Additional coral types include Brain, Bubble, Fire, Horn, Petal, Pillow, Rock, Silk, Star, and Tube.

Place Coral Fans on the ground or on the side of a block as Coral Wall Fans. They are decorative and work both underwater and on land.

Dead Coral

When coral dies it becomes the Dead version: Dead Acan Coral, Dead Acan Coral Block, Dead Acan Coral Fan, Dead Acan Coral Wall Fan, and the equivalents for Branch, Chrome, Finger, and Moss Coral. Dead coral still has building uses — Dead Coralstone, Dead Coralstone Slab, Dead Coralstone Stairs, and Dead Coralstone Wall are all craftable from dead coral material. Chiseled Dead Coralstone is also available.

From Coral Block to Coralstone

Take a Coral Block and process it into the matching Coralstone. From there, craft slabs, stairs, walls, and chiseled variants. Use a stonecutter for precise shapes. Mix living coral fans with Coralstone walls and stairs to build reefs, aquariums, and coastal structures. Keep dead and living coral separate so you can choose which color palette each build uses.
