Build Structural Pillars to Secure Your Mine

Craft a Structural Pillar

Place one stripped log on a Crafting Table, then position two polished deepslate blocks on either side of it. This creates a structural pillar block that reinforces nearby ceilings.

Install Pillars Correctly

Place pillars vertically in your mine shafts and tunnels. Pillars can be 2 to 10 blocks tall. Position them so their top block is as close as possible to the ceiling you want to protect. Each pillar secures overhead stone blocks within a 12-block radius from its top.

Plan Your Support Network

Before mining a large area, place pillars strategically throughout the space. Space them so their protection zones overlap and cover all the ceiling blocks you plan to extract. This prevents red particle warnings and keeps your mine stable during extended mining sessions.

Pro Tip

Use pillars in combination with the Soul Lantern inspection system. Pillars turn dangerous red zones into safe cyan zones, letting you mine more efficiently without constant collapses interrupting your work.
