Adjusting Shadow Intensity for Your Build Style
Finding the Right Shadow Balance
UltraLow Shaders applies gentle shadows by default, but you may want to adjust how pronounced they are depending on your building style and hardware. Shadows help showcase architectural details, but too much can obscure fine work.
How to Customize Shadow Settings
Open your shader options menu (usually accessed through Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options). Look for shadow-related sliders—these typically control shadow distance and softness. Lower values create softer, closer shadows ideal for detailed builds; higher values extend shadows across terrain for dramatic landscape effects.
Test your changes in different lighting conditions: bright daylight, sunset, and caves. Shadows cast by trees and tall structures should enhance depth without making your build hard to see. If shadows feel too harsh on your potato PC, reduce the shadow distance first—this preserves frame rate while softening the effect.
For survival gameplay, moderate shadow settings help you spot mobs and resources while keeping performance stable. For creative building, experiment with stronger shadows to emphasize your terraforming and structure placement.
