Building a Safe Room with Steel Doors and Trapdoors

A safe room is where you retreat when a night goes wrong. Build it small, build it hard.

Shell and Entrance

Pick a room with no exterior windows. Line the walls with Steel block and Steel pillar. Fit the only entrance with a Steel Door — one door, one direction in. If you need a second exit, use a Steel Trapdoor over a drop or ladder shaft so it can be sealed from above.

Interior Fittings

Inside the safe room, place:

• A Gravestone if you want a marker for the room
• A Shelf for food and potions
• A Box for overflow storage
• A Stretcher for a resting spot
• A Radio for atmosphere and utility

Air and Access

Add a Vent with a Vent trapdoor for airflow, and a Curtain to screen the interior from the vent opening. Keep a Water dispenser in a corner. Stock the shelf with Bacon soup, Tomatosoup, Nuka cola, and a Hatred of bees potion.
