Producing Fuel with the Oil Mill and Backmix Reactor

Extract and refine oil

Place a Fluid Extractor on an oil-bearing area and connect it with Fluid Pipe to move fluid. Route the pipe into a Backmix Reactor, which processes the extracted fluid. Power the Reactor with a Generator or Dynamo — the Generator burns fuel to make energy, and the Dynamo converts mechanical motion into power. Connect them with Cable, and place Cable Insulator where cables need to pass through blocks or run long distances.

Store and dispense

Store processed fuel in a Tank, Large Tank, or Split Tank. Use a Canister to carry fuel by hand and fill vehicles directly. For a permanent refuelling point, place a Gas Station and connect it to your tank network with Fluid Pipe. Drive the car onto the Gas Station to refuel.

Alternate oil source

A car:oil_mill recipe also processes Canola Cake into oil. Grow the crop, press it, and feed the resulting Canola Cake into the Oil Mill to supplement your Fluid Extractor output. Keep at least one Tank buffering between the Reactor and the Gas Station so refuelling does not stall while the Reactor cycles.
