Enhance Underwater and Cave Lighting

Locate Underwater Shader Options

Open Shader Options and search for settings related to water, underwater, or caustics. ULS Shaders includes controls for how light behaves beneath the surface and in dark enclosed spaces.

Adjust Underwater Visibility

Increase underwater brightness or caustic intensity to make caves and ocean floors more visible and visually interesting. You can also adjust the color tint of underwater lighting—warmer tones create an amber glow, while cooler tones feel more natural.

Fine-Tune Cave Ambience

Caves benefit from increased ambient light in shader settings. This prevents them from becoming pitch-black while maintaining the shader's colorful aesthetic. Test your changes by swimming deep underwater and exploring dark caverns. The goal is visibility without losing atmosphere—you should see ore blocks and mobs clearly, but caves should still feel like distinct environments separate from bright surface areas.
