Gathering Resources from the Classic Starting Zone
Resource Types Available
The Tutorial 31 map includes wood, stone, and food scattered throughout the starting area, just like standard survival mode. The landscape uses modern blocks from newer Minecraft updates while keeping the original layout intact.
Gathering Steps
1. Wood: Punch trees near spawn to collect logs, then craft into planks
2. Stone: Mine exposed stone with a wooden pickaxe (craft from planks and sticks)
3. Food: Hunt animals in the starting zone or search chests for pre-made food items
4. Secondary materials: Collect dirt, sand, and gravel for building
Efficient Approach
Start by gathering enough wood to craft basic tools. Use a wooden pickaxe to mine stone, then upgrade to a stone pickaxe for faster mining. Hunt passive mobs for meat and cook it over a furnace. The map's familiar layout means resource nodes are positioned similarly to the original console edition, so experienced players will recognize good gathering spots.
Prioritize collecting materials near your intended base location to minimize travel time.
