Filtering Items with Filters and Multifilters
Using a Filter
Place a Filter inline on a tube run. The Filter lets you control which items pass through and which are blocked, so you can send specific items down a branch while everything else continues along the main line.
Set the Filter by opening it and placing the item you want to match in its slot. Items matching the filter are handled according to the filter's setting; non-matching items are diverted or stopped. Use Tubing Pliers to adjust which tubes connect to the Filter's sides so the filtered output goes where you want.
Using a Multifilter
A Multifilter works like a Filter but accepts multiple item types at once. Use it when a single branch needs to carry several different items — for example, a set of related crafting materials — while excluding everything else.
Place the Multifilter inline the same way as a Filter and fill its slots with the items to match. Route its output with colored tubes so the filtered stream stays separate from the rest of the network.
Combining Filters with Routing
A common layout is: Extractor → tubes → Filter or Multifilter → branch to a Loader. The filter decides what enters the branch, and the Loader deposits it. Add a Distributor if the filtered items need to reach more than one destination.
