How to Mine and Use Gems and Ores

Ore Blocks and Where They Generate

The mod adds Onyx Ore, Ruby Ore, and Sapphire Ore, plus their deepslate versions: Deepslate Onyx Ore, Deepslate Ruby Ore, Deepslate Sapphire Ore, and Deepslate Topaz Ore. Mine these with a pickaxe to obtain Onyx, Ruby, and the other gem materials. Deepslate variants appear deeper underground, so branch mine at low elevations to find them.

Gems as Crafting Materials

Onyx, Ruby, and the other gems feed into the lock and key tiers. Onyx Lock and Onyx Key, Ruby Lock and Ruby Key, and the other gem-named locks and keys use these materials. Collect a steady supply before you attempt to craft high-tier locks, because each lock and key pair consumes gems.

Turning Gems Into Gear

Gems also support the weapon and tool recipes in the mod. Copper Short Sword, Chipped Copper Short Sword, Chipped Iron Short Sword, and Chipped Steel Short Sword are entry-tier blades, while Iron Short Sword, Iron Broadsword, Iron Falchion, Iron Mace, Copper Rapier, and Copper Broad Axe cover heavier options. Higher-tier weapons include Axe of Durin, Callandor, Mjolnir, Oathbringer, and Orcus. Store your gems in a Crystal Chest or Safe Chest near your crafting station so you always have them on hand.
