Upgrading Traveller's Boots MK1 to MK2

What the Upgrade Needs

MK2 is not a shaped crafting-table recipe. It is produced with a smithing_transform recipe, the same recipe type used for every tier above MK1. A smithing_transform consumes a base item, a template or upgrade ingredient, and an addition ingredient at a smithing table.

Steps at the Smithing Table

1. Place a smithing table and open it.

2. Put your Traveller's Boots MK1 in the base slot.

3. Add the upgrade ingredient required by the MK2 recipe.

4. Add the addition ingredient required by the MK2 recipe.

5. Take the Traveller's Boots MK2 from the output slot.

The MK1 pair is consumed in the transform, so the result replaces it. Equip MK2 immediately.

Progression Logic

Because every tier above MK1 uses smithing_transform, the chain is strictly linear: MK1 → MK2 → MK3 → MK4 → MK5. You cannot skip a tier. Each transform takes the previous tier as its base, so always upgrade the pair you are currently wearing rather than crafting a duplicate. Keep the smithing table in a fixed spot — you will return to it four times across the full progression.
