Traveler's Backpack Upgrade Guide: Tiers, Smithing and Slots

Tier upgrades

Backpacks come in tiers. The base is Standard Traveler's Backpack, and higher tiers include Iron Traveler's Backpack, Gold Traveler's Backpack, Diamond Traveler's Backpack and Netherite Traveler's Backpack. The upgrade can be applied by placing it in a slot on the right side of the backpack inventory. Tier labels shown in the interface include §7Iron Tier Upgrade, §6Gold Tier Upgrade and §8Netherite Tier Upgrade.

Smithing Table tier application

Use Leather as template and combine with %s tier Traveler's Backpack in Smithing Table to apply upgrade. This is the smithing_transform route for moving a backpack up a tier. Bring the Leather template, the tier Traveler's Backpack you want to upgrade, and the target tier material into the Smithing Table.

Functional upgrades

Functional upgrades install into the right-side slot of the backpack inventory. Each does one job:

• Crafting Upgrade – Provides a crafting grid for the backpack.
• Furnace Upgrade – Adds a furnace to the backpack.
• Blast Furnace Upgrade – Adds a blast furnace to the backpack.
• Smoker Upgrade – Adds a smoker to the backpack.
• Pickup Upgrade – Allows items to be picked up from the ground and stored directly in the backpack.
• Magnet Upgrade – Pulls items within %s block radius to the player.
• Feeding Upgrade – Feeds the player with food from the backpack.
• Refill Upgrade – Refills selected items from the backpack into the player's inventory.
• Tanks Upgrade – Enhances the backpack with 2 fluid tanks.
• Void Upgrade – Provides a trash bin for manual item deletion and filters to automatically void items when they enter the backpack via the Pickup Upgrade or hoppers.
• Jukebox Upgrade – Allows listening to music.
• Lantern Upgrade – Provides light source for the backpack.

Blank Upgrade is the empty upgrade item used as a base for crafting the others.
