Installing Functional Upgrades in Your Traveler's Backpack

Upgrade items

Functional upgrades are applied with the travelersbackpack:backpack_upgrade recipe type. Each upgrade is consumed on use. The available upgrades are Blank Upgrade, Blast Furnace Upgrade, Crafting Upgrade, Feeding Upgrade, Furnace Upgrade, Jukebox Upgrade, Lantern Upgrade, Magnet Upgrade, Pickup Upgrade, Refill Upgrade, Smoker Upgrade, Tanks Upgrade, and Void Upgrade.

What each upgrade does

  • Blank Upgrade: a placeholder upgrade item used in other upgrade recipes.
  • Blast Furnace Upgrade: adds blast furnace smelting behavior to the backpack.
  • Furnace Upgrade: adds furnace smelting behavior to the backpack.
  • Smoker Upgrade: adds smoker cooking behavior to the backpack.
  • Crafting Upgrade: adds a crafting grid to the backpack interface.
  • Feeding Upgrade: feeds you from food stored in the backpack.
  • Refill Upgrade: refills your held item from stock in the backpack.
  • Pickup Upgrade: automatically picks up items into the backpack.
  • Magnet Upgrade: pulls nearby items toward you.
  • Void Upgrade: voids items that would otherwise overflow.
  • Lantern Upgrade: provides light from the backpack.
  • Jukebox Upgrade: plays music from the backpack.
  • Tanks Upgrade: adds fluid tank capacity to the backpack.

Tank and hose items

For fluid handling, use Backpack Tank, Tanks Upgrade, Hose, and Hose Nozzle together. The Backpack Tank stores fluid, the Tanks Upgrade expands tank capacity, and the Hose with Hose Nozzle lets you move fluid in and out.
