How to Manage Fluids and Tanks in the Backpack

Installing Fluid Storage

Fluid handling uses two related items: Backpack Tank and Tanks Upgrade. Install the Tanks Upgrade into an upgrade slot to give the backpack fluid capacity, and use the Backpack Tank as the container that holds the fluid. Both are crafted through the backpack recipe system and then placed into the backpack's interface.

Filling and Draining

The Hose Nozzle is the tool for moving fluids in and out. With a tank installed, use the Hose Nozzle to draw fluid from a source into the backpack tank, or to pour fluid out. This lets you carry water, lava, or other fluids without hauling buckets. The nozzle is the interface between the world and your backpack's internal tank.

Why Carry Fluids

Fluid storage is useful for long trips where you need water for farming or brewing, lava for fuel or traps, or milk for curing effects. Because the backpack holds its contents when unequipped, you can fill the tank at base and carry it with you, then swap the backpack out without spilling anything.

Combining With Other Upgrades

Fluid storage pairs well with the Furnace Upgrade line if you use lava as fuel, and with the Crafting Upgrade if you brew or craft on the move. Install the Tanks Upgrade alongside your other functional upgrades — the slots are separate, so fluid capacity does not compete with smelting or pickup functionality.
