Docking a Modular Boat

Craft a Dock and place it at the water's edge where you want boats to stop. A Modular Boat or Treated Wood Boat parks against the Dock, and an Item Loader or Fluid Loader placed next to the dock transfers cargo while the boat is moored. Drop a Buoy in open water to mark a route or a turning point so you can find your channel again.

Moving between levels

Use Elevator Switch Rail with an Elevator Switch Support to send a vehicle up or down a vertical track. Place the support under the elevator rail so the rail has a base, then route the train onto the elevator rail with a Switch Rail. A Timed Holding Rail pauses a vehicle for a set period before releasing it, which is useful at the top and bottom of an elevator so cargo can transfer before the car moves on.

Scaffolding and access

Scaffolding Rail and Scaffolding Slab give you walkable surfaces along a route so you can reach loaders, switches, and docks without building permanent floors. Lay Scaffolding Rail along the track edge and Scaffolding Slab where you need a wider platform. Use the Rail Breaker to remove rails and scaffolding when the layout changes, and keep the Rail Worker's Bench nearby to craft replacements on site.
