Enhance Shadow Detail from Trees and Foliage
Understanding Shadow Rendering
Tower Shaders creates crisp shadow patterns as sunlight filters through tree leaves. If shadows look too soft, blocky, or barely visible, you can adjust the shadow quality settings to make them more defined and realistic.
Adjusting Shadow Quality
1. Open your shader settings menu
2. Navigate to Shadows or Shadow Quality
3. Look for settings like "Shadow Distance," "Shadow Resolution," or "Shadow Softness"
4. Increase shadow resolution or distance for sharper, more detailed shadows
5. Reduce "Shadow Softness" or "Penumbra" to make shadow edges crisper
6. Test by standing under trees during midday and observing ground patterns
7. Adjust incrementally—higher shadow settings impact performance
Performance Consideration
Enhanced shadows demand more GPU power. If frame rates drop significantly, reduce shadow distance (how far shadows render) rather than resolution. Distant shadows can be lower quality without looking bad. You can also enable shadows only for nearby terrain and disable them for distant chunks.
