Adjust Night Vision and Dark Area Brightness
Why Adjust Night Settings
Tower Shaders brightens nighttime to keep survival gameplay readable, but you may want darker nights for atmosphere or brighter nights for easier navigation. The shader's night brightness slider controls how much ambient light fills unlit areas after sunset.
How to Change Night Brightness
1. Open your shader settings menu (usually accessed via a key combination in-game, often Shift + O or through your mod menu)
2. Look for the Lighting or Night section
3. Find the slider labeled something like "Night Brightness" or "Ambient Light"
4. Drag left to darken nights and increase reliance on torches and moon glow
5. Drag right to brighten open fields and caves, making survival easier without light sources
6. Test your changes by traveling to an unlit area or waiting for nightfall
7. Adjust in small increments until the balance feels right for your playstyle
Tips
If you're building an underground base, brighter nights won't affect cave lighting much—caves stay dark regardless. For atmospheric horror builds or adventure maps, reduce night brightness significantly. For casual survival, keep it moderate so you're not constantly placing torches.
