Understand Biome Detection and Sniffer Appearance
How Biome Detection Works
The resource pack automatically detects which biome a sniffer egg hatches in and applies the corresponding texture. The biome must be the primary biome type at the egg's location—sniffers won't change appearance based on nearby biomes or transitions between them.
Default and Variant Textures
Sniffers hatched in regular plains biomes retain the default vanilla appearance. All other biomes trigger a custom variant: forests get matching greenery, cold biomes get icy textures, Nether forests get their respective colors, and special biomes like mushroom fields and lush caves get unique themed coats.
Permanent Appearance
Once a sniffer hatches and receives its biome-specific texture, that appearance is permanent. Moving the sniffer to a different biome won't change its look. This means you can safely transport sniffers anywhere without losing their distinctive appearance.
Visual-Only Changes
The resource pack only changes how sniffers look—it doesn't alter their behavior, breeding, or any gameplay mechanics. All variants function identically to standard sniffers.
