Using The One Probe (Bauble) in a Bauble Slot

What the Bauble Variant Is For

The One Probe (Bauble) is a separate item from The One Probe. Its purpose is to occupy a bauble slot instead of your inventory or helmet slot, so you can keep the probe overlay active while freeing up those spaces for other gear.

Equipping It

Obtain The One Probe (Bauble) and place it into an available bauble slot through your bauble inventory interface. Once equipped there, the probe overlay functions the same way as the standard item — look at a block or entity and the information appears. You do not need to hold it or keep a copy in your main inventory.

Choosing Between Probe Options

Use The One Probe (Bauble) when you want the overlay without spending a helmet slot or inventory space. Use a probe helmet (Iron, Golden, or Diamond Helmet with Probe) when you want the probe built into your armor. Use the plain The One Probe when you have neither a bauble slot free nor a helmet slot to spare. All three approaches read the same target information; the difference is only where the item lives on your character.
