Using the Living Tome, Cursed Tome, and Debug Tome

Know Which Tome You Need

The three advanced tomes in Tomes Mod are Living Tome, Cursed Tome, and Debug Tome. Each is a separate registry item with its own crafting_shaped recipe. Do not assume one tome converts into another. Before crafting any of them, confirm you have the prerequisite items — likely including an Ancient Heart, Beating Heart, or Sweet Heart depending on the recipe. The Debug Tome may require different components than the Living Tome or Cursed Tome, so read each recipe book entry separately.

Craft Without Wasting Ingredients

Place the exact shaped pattern for your chosen tome in the crafting grid. If you are short on a rare ingredient, craft the Living Tome or Cursed Tome only after you have a spare Ancient Heart, since that item is central to the mod's progression. The Debug Tome is its own recipe — do not break down a Living Tome hoping to get one. Once crafted, keep each tome in a separate chest slot. Because all three are distinct items, mixing them up in a crafting grid will fail silently. Verify the output slot shows the correct tome name before you pull it out.
