Choosing Between Wooden, Iron, Redstone, and Glass Poles

Match the Pole to the Job

Each pole is crafted from a different core material, so pick based on what you have available and what the build needs.

• Wooden Pole — made from wooden planks. Best when you want a cheap, renewable pole for scaffolding, temporary frames, or rustic builds.
• Iron Pole — made from iron ingots. Best when you want a solid, industrial-looking post that reads as metal.
• Redstone Pole — made from redstone dust. Best when you want a red-toned accent that fits redstone-themed builds.
• Glass Pole — made from glass blocks. Best when you want a transparent or light-passing vertical element.

Recipe Logic Across All Four

All four poles use the same crafting_shaped layout: a vertical column of the core material in the crafting grid. That means once you know the shape, you can craft any pole by swapping the material. Keep the ingredients in a straight vertical line; do not rearrange them into a different shape.

Swapping Poles in an Existing Build

Because every pole is a full block with the same footprint, you can break one pole and replace it with a different type without changing the structure around it. This lets you start with Wooden Poles for speed and later upgrade sections to Iron, Redstone, or Glass Poles as your materials allow.
