How to Gather Beach Items: Seashells and Starfish

Searching the Shoreline

Seashell and Starfish generate on beaches. Walk the sand in long strips rather than zigzagging, and check both the dry sand and the strip right at the waterline. They are small and easy to miss against pale sand, so move slowly and look down.

Beaches that also contain Sandstone Rock and Sandstone Fragment are worth a second pass. The same sandy terrain that produces sandstone clutter produces seashells and starfish, so once you find one type, keep going along that shore.

Red Sand and Inland Sand

Red Sandstone Rock and Red Sandstone Fragment come from red sandy terrain. Check red sand beaches for Seashell and Starfish as well, since the same shoreline rule applies wherever sand meets water.

Collecting and Using Them

Break or walk over each Seashell and Starfish to pick it up. They stack in your inventory and can be placed back down as decoration blocks. A single beach trip usually yields a handful of each, so bring spare inventory space and empty a slot before you start.

If a beach looks picked over, move to the next stretch of coast. These items are scattered rather than clustered, so distance covered matters more than time spent in one spot.
