Using the Watering Can and Phytosoil Effectively

Understand the Two Tools

Phytosoil is the block every mod crop grows on. The Watering Can is the tool that speeds that growth. Together they are the core of the mod's farming loop.

Set Up a Farm Layout

Lay Phytosoil in rows with a walkway between them so you can reach every crop. Plant your seeds or produce on top. Group similar crops together: grains in one section, vegetables in another, mushrooms in a shaded corner. This makes harvesting and replanting faster.

Water on a Schedule

Refill the Watering Can at a water source, then water each crop. Watering right after planting gives the biggest head start. Re-water after each harvest so the next cycle begins immediately.

Rotate Crops

Do not plant the same crop in the same spot forever. Rotate between grains like Barley, Rice, and Corn, vegetables like Onion and Radish, and fruits like Strawberry and Frost Melon. This keeps a steady supply of every ingredient your cooking recipes need.

Store the Output

Use the Block forms of Amaranth, Barley, Bell Pepper, Coffee, Corn, Eggplant, Flax, Green Bean, Hops, Onion, Peanut, Radish, Rice, Sadiroot, Spinach, Strawberry, Tea, and Tomato as compact storage. Craft them back into items when a recipe calls for them.
