Optimize Performance on Lower-End Hardware

Identify Performance Bottlenecks

Monitor your frame rate using F3 debug screen. If FPS drops below your target, shader settings are likely the cause. TheMaxFPS Shaders is designed to run fast, but aggressive settings on weak hardware still cause lag.

Reduce Expensive Features

Disable or lower: shadow distance, shadow quality, bloom intensity, and cloud shadow resolution. These have the largest performance impact. Disable advanced features like ambient occlusion or parallax mapping if available. Keep water waves and torch glow enabled—they cost little and enhance visuals significantly.

Lower Resolution Settings

Reduce internal render resolution or shadow map size if your shader options expose these. Decrease draw distance in your main Minecraft settings to reduce terrain rendering load.

Test and Iterate

After each adjustment, check FPS in different environments: open sky, dense forests, and caves. Aim for stable frame rates in all conditions. If performance remains poor, consider using a lighter shader pack or reducing render distance further.
