Distinguish Between Similar Mobs and Identify Which Mod They Come From

Recognizing Mobs by Their Renamed Subtitles

When mobs make sounds, the Rename Compat Project updates the subtitle text to show exactly which mod that mob belongs to. This is especially useful when multiple mods add similar animals.

Steps:

1. Enable subtitles in your Minecraft accessibility settings if not already on

2. Encounter a mob and listen for its sounds — a subtitle will appear at the bottom of your screen

3. Read the subtitle text, which now includes the mod name alongside the mob's action

4. Use this information to identify whether you're facing a Naturalist animal, an Alex's Mobs creature, or a vanilla mob

Using Mob Identification

Knowing which mod a mob comes from helps you:

• Predict mob behavior and drops based on its source mod
• Locate specific mobs for farming or breeding purposes
• Avoid confusing similar-looking creatures from different mods
• Understand which mod's mechanics apply to that mob

Subtitles remain visible even in noisy environments, making mob identification reliable during exploration or combat.
