Crafting and Using Dark Iron

Get Dark Iron Ingots

Dark Iron Ingot is the base material for the mod's metal set. Once you have ingots, you can craft the full Dark Iron family: Dark Iron Block, Dark Iron Bars, Dark Iron Door, and Dark Iron Trapdoor.

Craft the block set

Combine Dark Iron Ingots into a Dark Iron Block for storage and building. Craft Dark Iron Bars for windows and cell walls, a Dark Iron Door for entrances, and a Dark Iron Trapdoor for floor hatches and ceiling access. These are standard shaped recipes using the ingot as the core material.

Build with it

Dark Iron suits crypts, ossuaries, and graveyard walls. A typical build: Dark Iron Block floor and lower walls, Dark Iron Bars for upper windows, a Dark Iron Door as the only entrance, and Dark Iron Trapdoor over a stairwell down to a coffin room. Because the bars are see-through, they let light from a Fire Brazier or Soul Fire Brazier pass into the room while still reading as a barrier.

Pair with stone

Dark Iron reads well against Blackstone Gravestone, Polished Basalt Gravestone, Cracked Polished Blackstone Gravestone, and Deepslate Gravestone. Use those as accents on an otherwise Dark Iron wall. For a gilded look, mix in Gilded Blackstone Gravestone. Keep Dark Iron Block on hand as your default structural block whenever you build a mod-themed interior.
