Optimize Shader Performance on Low-End Hardware
Accessing Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls menu) or through the Video Settings screen. Look for the shader configuration panel.
Reducing Graphics Load
Start by enabling Potato Mode or the lowest preset available. This disables resource-intensive features like:
- Advanced shadow rendering
- Reflection calculations
- Complex water surface effects
- High-quality sky rendering
If performance is still low, systematically disable individual features:
1. Turn off Reflections first—this has high impact on frame rate
2. Reduce Shadow Quality to minimum
3. Lower Brightness Adjustment settings
4. Disable Water Surface Effects
Testing Frame Rate
After each change, play for 30 seconds in an open area to gauge performance. Aim for your target frame rate (typically 30+ FPS for smooth gameplay). You can gradually re-enable features as long as performance remains acceptable.
Balancing Quality and Speed
If you want slightly better visuals without major performance loss, try the Low or Medium presets instead of Potato Mode. These offer a middle ground between visual fidelity and frame rate stability.
