Optimize Performance on Low-End Hardware
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Check your current frame rate using the debug screen (F3 key). If you're experiencing stuttering or lag, TB Shaders offers several optimization paths without removing visual features.
Reduce Shadow Quality
Lower the shadow resolution or distance setting in the shader options. This dramatically improves performance because shadow rendering is computationally expensive. You'll still see shadows—they'll just be slightly less detailed.
Disable or Reduce Water Reflections
Locate the water reflection toggle or quality slider. On potato hardware, disabling reflections entirely or switching to a low-quality mode frees up significant processing power. Water will still render normally; it just won't mirror the sky and surroundings.
Adjust Lighting Complexity
Reduce the number of dynamic light sources being calculated simultaneously, or lower the light propagation distance. This prevents the shader from computing colored light effects across your entire render distance.
Monitor Results
After each change, return to your world and check the frame rate again. Make incremental adjustments until you find the balance between visual quality and smooth gameplay that works for your system.
