Building Traps and Automated Defenses with Arrows
Core Setup
Place an Arrow-Dispenser facing the direction you want it to fire. Load it with the arrow type you want by right-clicking with that arrow in hand. Connect a redstone signal, such as a pressure plate, lever, or tripwire, to trigger it. Each pulse fires one arrow.
Choosing Arrow Types for Traps
- TNT-Arrow for area denial and heavy damage.
- Fire-Arrow to set intruders alight.
- Frost-Arrow to slow mobs so they cannot reach your walls.
- Knockback-Arrow to push mobs into pits or away from doors.
- Piercing-Arrow to hit multiple mobs in a corridor.
- Thunder-Arrow for a lightning strike on trigger.
- Redstone-Arrow to chain-trigger other dispensers or mechanisms.
Chaining Dispensers
Place several Arrow-Dispensers along a corridor, each loaded with a different arrow. Wire them to the same redstone line so they all fire together. Use a Redstone-Arrow in the first dispenser to trigger the next stage automatically.
Maintenance
Break the Arrow-Dispenser to recover stored arrows before moving it. Refill it by right-clicking with arrows. Keep a Quiver or Big-Quiver nearby so you can reload quickly. Test the trap with a lever before relying on it.
