Thatch Roofing with Cattail and Duckweed

Gathering Thatch Materials

Collect Cattail Seeds and craft a Cattail Seed Sack to store them. From Cattail Seeds you produce Cattail Thatch, the base block for the cattail building set. Separately, gather Duckweed Thatch for a second thatch variant.

Crafting Thatch Shapes

Both thatch types share the same shape family. From Cattail Thatch you can craft:

• Cattail Thatch Slab
• Cattail Thatch Stairs
• Cattail Thatch Vertical Slab

From Duckweed Thatch you can craft:

• Duckweed Thatch Slab
• Duckweed Thatch Stairs
• Duckweed Thatch Vertical Slab

Stonecutting can produce some of these shapes directly from the base thatch block, which is faster when you need many pieces.

Roofing Technique

Lay Cattail Thatch or Duckweed Thatch as the main roof surface. Use the matching Stairs along roof edges and ridges, Slabs to cap the peak, and Vertical Slabs on gable ends where a full block would look too thick. Alternate the two thatch types on different roof sections to suggest weathering or separate wings of a building.

Storage and Use

Keep a Cattail Seed Sack near your farm so harvested Cattail Seeds go straight into storage. Thatch blocks are lightweight-looking and suit swamp huts, dockside sheds, and village builds. Combine them with Willow Planks for walls and Mud Bricks for foundations.
