How to Make Nigiri, Gunkan, and Temaki
The Rice-and-Topping Rolls
Nigiri, gunkan, and temaki are the simplest roll shapes and the best place to start once you have Cooked Rice and Nori Sheets.
Nigiri use Cooked Rice topped with a single protein:
- Salmon Nigiri
- Tuna Nigiri
- Shrimp Nigiri
Gunkan wrap Nori Sheets around Cooked Rice with a topping:
- Salmon Gunkan
- Tuna Gunkan
- Wakame Gunkan
Temaki are hand rolls using Nori Sheets and Cooked Rice with a filling:
- Salmon Temaki
- Tuna Temaki
- Chicken Temaki
- Shrimp Temaki
Preparing the Proteins
Salmon comes from Salmon Fillet, tuna from Tuna Fillet, and shrimp from Shrimp. Shrimp are obtained via Shrimp Bucket, and tuna via Tuna Bucket. Chicken Temaki uses Chicken. Wakame Gunkan uses seaweed, which you also get as Seaweed On A Stick. Cut fillets on the Cutting Board before rolling. Once your Cooked Rice, Nori Sheets, and prepared proteins are ready, use the Roller to assemble each shape. Make several at once since they share the same base ingredients.
