Growing Rice

Rice starts from Rice Seeds. Plant Rice Seeds on farmland the same way you plant wheat, then let the crop mature. Harvest it to obtain Rice. Keep some Rice Seeds back so you can replant and maintain a steady supply, since almost every roll in the mod depends on Cooked Rice.

Cooking the Rice

Raw Rice is not usable in rolls. You need a Rice Cooker. Place the Rice Cooker and put your harvested Rice into it to turn it into Cooked Rice. Cooked Rice is the base ingredient for Onigiri, nigiri, maki, temaki, and gunkan, so cook a batch before you start rolling anything.

Why It Matters

Cooked Rice is consumed by nearly every recipe that uses the Roller or the Cutting Board. If you plan to make Salmon Nigiri, Tuna Nigiri, Shrimp Nigiri, Avocado Maki, Cucumber Maki, Salmon Maki, Tuna Maki, Crab Maki, or any California roll, prepare Cooked Rice first. Running out mid-craft stalls the whole chain, so keep the Rice Cooker fed and a stack of Cooked Rice on hand.
