Upgrading to a Netherite Canteen

The Upgrade Path

Start with a Canteen and fill it to get a Filled Canteen. To reach the top tier, you need a Netherite Canteen, which is produced through the mod's single smithing_transform recipe. This means you use a smithing table rather than a normal crafting grid. Bring your base canteen materials and the Netherite-tier ingredient to a smithing table to perform the transform.

Filling and Using the Netherite Canteen

Once you have a Netherite Canteen, fill it at a water source to get a Filled Netherite Canteen. It holds more than the basic Canteen, so it is the right choice for long expeditions where you cannot return to base often. Pair it with spare Charcoal Filters so you can purify refills on the go. The mod's survive:crafting_shapeless_with_purified_water recipes mean some conversions require a Purified Water Bucket specifically — keep one at your base crafting station.

Supporting Items

Carry a Thermometer so you know when to drink and when to seek shelter. A Sugar Water Bottle is a separate drinkable you can craft as a backup. Keep Ice Cube and Magma Paste in your pack for temperature emergencies during the same trips where the Netherite Canteen matters most.
