Using Plateaus and Cliffs for Defensive Builds

Natural Fortification

The mod's terrain naturally creates defensible positions:

  • Plateaus are elevated: Mobs struggle to reach high, flat-topped mountains
  • Cliff faces are barriers: Sheer drops prevent mob approach from certain angles
  • Valleys create choke points: Narrow passages funnel mobs into killzones

Building Defensive Structures

Construct your base on a plateau and leave the cliff edges exposed—mobs cannot climb vertical faces. This gives you natural walls on multiple sides. For the remaining open sides, build traditional defenses: walls, moats, or arrow towers.

If you prefer a valley base, position your structure at the valley floor and use the surrounding cliffs as natural barriers. Mobs spawning on the high peaks must navigate down to reach you, giving you time to prepare.

Consider building watchtowers on adjacent peaks for scouting and defense. The dramatic elevation changes mean you can see incoming threats from great distances. Connect peaks with bridges for mobility while maintaining the defensive advantage of high ground. The mod's colorful biomes and magical atmosphere remain intact, so your fortress can be both functional and visually striking.
