How to Make and Use a Key in Supplementaries

Crafting the Key

Craft a Key from the crafting_shaped recipes available in the mod. Once you hold a Key, it is used to lock and unlock blocks that accept a lock, such as the Gold Door, Gold Trapdoor, Gold Gate, Iron Gate, Cage, and Jar. Place the block first, then interact with the Key to bind it.

Locking and Unlocking

With a bound Key in hand, right-click a lockable block to lock it. A locked block cannot be opened by other players. Right-click again with the same Key to unlock it. Keep the Key in your inventory or store it somewhere safe — if you lose it, the locked block stays locked.

Use the Key on a Cage to trap and release mobs, or on a Jar to secure its contents. The Gold Door, Gold Trapdoor, and Gold Gate all accept Key binding, so you can secure a base entrance without redstone.

Practical Uses

  • Lock a Jar holding valuables so other players cannot open it.
  • Bind a Cage to safely transport a mob.
  • Lock a Gold Trapdoor over a pit or vault entrance.

Only one Key binds to a given block at a time. If you need multiple players to access the same block, share the Key or leave the block unlocked.
