How to Connect Inventories with Cables

Choose the right cable

There are three cable blocks: Inventory Cable, Fancy Inventory Cable, and Tough Inventory Cable. All three connect inventories to a Factory Manager or Tunnelled Factory Manager.

• Inventory Cable is the basic connection for moving items between inventories.
• Fancy Inventory Cable is a variant for builds where you want a different look or routing behavior.
• Tough Inventory Cable is the durable option for runs that need to survive more punishment.

Build a working run

Place your Factory Manager first. Then place cable blocks so they touch both the Factory Manager and each inventory you want on the network. Cables must form an unbroken path; a missing block breaks the connection for everything past the gap.

Run cable to chests, machines, and other inventories you want the Factory Manager to read from or write to. The Factory Manager only sees inventories that are physically connected through cable.

Use the Network Tool to verify connections. It shows you what the network can reach, so you can find broken runs before you write a program.

Once the cables are placed and verified, insert a Factory Manager Program Disk into the Factory Manager. The program on the disk controls what the connected inventories do. Without a disk and program, the cables are connected but idle.
