Mining and Harvesting Sulfur and Cinnabar

Choosing the Right Tools

Both sulfur and cinnabar stone require a pickaxe to harvest. Use at least a stone pickaxe to successfully gather these blocks; weaker tools will not drop the resources. Iron or diamond pickaxes work efficiently and are recommended for sustained mining operations in large cavern systems.

Locating Resource Patches

Sulfur blocks form the majority of the cave walls and formations, making them easy to find once you're in a Sulfur Cave biome. Cinnabar appears as deep red stone layers interspersed throughout the caverns. Potent sulfur patches are rarer and more valuable—search thoroughly in larger cavern chambers and around natural sulfur spring features for concentrated deposits.

Efficient Mining Strategy

Focus on areas with visible sulfur spikes and spring formations, as these indicate resource-rich zones. Mine systematically through cavern walls to expose cinnabar layers. Bring multiple pickaxes or repair tools, as extended mining trips will wear through durability quickly. Store harvested blocks in a chest or return to base periodically, since sulfur and cinnabar can be heavy when collected in large quantities.
