How to Get Dirt Slabs and Dirt Stairs

Crafting the pieces

Dirt Slab and Dirt Stairs are both made from Dirt Patch. Place Dirt Patch in a crafting grid to produce the slab and stair variants. Both recipes are shapeless, so the arrangement of the Dirt Patch in the grid does not matter — you only need the correct count of Dirt Patch per output.

Where to find Dirt Patch

Dirt Patch generates underground as a decorative floor block. Look for it on cave floors alongside Gravel Patch, Ice Patch, and Mossy Dirt Patch. Once you have a stack of Dirt Patch, you can convert it into Dirt Slab and Dirt Stairs for building. Because the recipes are shapeless, you can craft them in the 2x2 inventory grid as well as at a crafting table.

Using them

Dirt Slab and Dirt Stairs behave like normal slabs and stairs for placement. Use them to build paths, steps, and low ceilings in cave builds where full dirt blocks would look too bulky. Pair them with Mossy Dirt and Mossy Dirt Patch to blend natural-looking terrain into your construction.
