Locating Foxfire Mushroom

Foxfire Mushroom grows underground in the same cave environments as Brown Roots, Dark Brown Roots, Light Brown Roots, Light Orange Roots, and Orange Roots. Search cave floors and walls where root blocks are dense; Foxfire Mushroom appears among them. Bring a light source so you can spot it against dark stone.

Harvesting and replanting

Break Foxfire Mushroom by hand or with any tool to collect it. It drops itself, so you can carry it back to a base and replant it on suitable ground. Place it on dirt-type surfaces such as Mossy Dirt or Dirt Patch to start a small farm. Because it is a mushroom block, it fits naturally into cave gardens alongside the root blocks you gathered nearby.

Combining with cave decor

Foxfire Mushroom pairs well with the speleothem blocks — Andesite Speleothem, Basalt Speleothem, Blackstone Speleothem, Diorite Speleothem, Granite Speleothem, and Obsidian Speleothem — to build lit cave rooms. Use it as a spot accent between stalagmite clusters, or line a tunnel with alternating Foxfire Mushroom and root blocks for a natural underground path.
