Balancing Visibility During Overcast Weather

Understand Shadow Softening

Stormweave Shaders softens shadows during overcast conditions to maintain visibility. This prevents the world from becoming too dark and unplayable during cloudy weather, while still preserving atmosphere.

Adjust Shadow Softness

Locate the shadow or ambient lighting controls in your shader settings. You can increase shadow softness to brighten overcast areas further, or decrease it for a more dramatic, darker sky. Find the balance that keeps your world visible without losing the storm mood.

Control Ambient Light Levels

Many shader packs include an ambient brightness slider. During overcast weather, increasing ambient light ensures you can still see blocks, mobs, and terrain clearly. This is especially important if you're building or mining during storms.

Test in Different Biomes

Visibility needs vary by biome. Dense forests may need more ambient light during storms, while open plains might feel right with less. Adjust settings and explore different environments to find your ideal balance.

Use Natural Light Sources

Torches and other light sources become more valuable during storms. Their glow stands out more against the darkened sky, making your builds feel more atmospheric and practical.
