Troubleshooting Washed-Out or Overly Bright Appearance
Check Shader Configuration
Open the Spirit Shaders settings menu. If the world looks completely washed out:
- Reduce overall brightness slider if available
- Lower sky brightness specifically—this is often the culprit
- Increase contrast to restore block definition and color saturation
Verify Minecraft's Gamma Setting
In your Minecraft video settings, check the Brightness/Gamma slider. If it's set to maximum, it compounds the shader's bright aesthetic. Lower it to a moderate level (around 50%) for better color balance.
Adjust Exposure or Tone Mapping
Some shader packs include exposure controls. If Spirit has this option, reduce it slightly to prevent the overexposed, washed-out look.
Compare Block Colors
If specific blocks look desaturated, this is normal for Spirit's clean style. The shader prioritizes visibility over color depth. If this bothers you, consider using blocks with more inherent color variation (like different wood types or colored concrete) to compensate.
Reset to Defaults
If adjustments aren't helping, reset the shader to default settings and make small changes incrementally.
