Adjusting Brightness and Contrast for Better Visibility

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated shader menu key (usually accessible through your graphics settings or by pressing a hotkey like O or through the Pause menu).

Modify Lighting Parameters

Spirit Shaders provides brightness and contrast sliders in its configuration panel. Since the shader removes shadows entirely, these controls let you fine-tune how bright blocks and the sky appear.

  • Increase brightness if caves or indoor areas feel too dark despite shadow removal
  • Adjust contrast to make block details pop more or appear softer
  • Tweak sky brightness separately if available, to control how washed-out or vivid the sky looks

Test Your Changes

Move to different environments—caves, forests, and open sky—to see how your adjustments affect visibility. The clean, bright aesthetic means you should be able to see clearly everywhere without heavy shadows obscuring details.

If you're playing on an older computer, avoid maxing brightness settings, as this can impact frame rates slightly. Find a balance between visibility and performance that works for your system.
