Adjusting Mist Intensity and Haze Distance
Access Shader Settings
Open your shader options menu (typically accessed via the pause menu or shader configuration screen). Look for the Spectral Mist section to find haze and mist-related sliders.
Fine-Tune Mist Density
Locate the mist intensity or fog density slider. Increasing this value thickens the atmospheric haze across your terrain, creating a more dramatic cinematic effect. Decreasing it reveals more distant terrain detail. Start with moderate values and adjust based on your performance and visual preference.
Control Render Distance Interaction
The mist interacts with your render distance setting—higher render distances show mist effects over greater distances. If performance drops, reduce either the mist intensity or your render distance. Test changes in different biomes; forests show mist more dramatically than plains.
Preview Changes in Real-Time
Stand in an open area during daytime to see how adjustments affect visibility. Then move to a forest or mountainous terrain to observe how mist layers over complex landscapes. Check your changes at night as well, since the shader adjusts lighting and mist behavior based on time of day.
