Optimize Shadow Quality for Your Hardware

Access Shadow Settings

In your shader options, find "Shadow Quality," "Shadow Distance," or "Shadow Resolution" settings.

Adjust for Performance

Soft Shaders provides gentle shadows by default without heavy performance cost. If you're experiencing frame drops, reduce shadow quality or distance. This makes shadows render over a smaller area around the player, freeing up processing power.

Balance Detail and Speed

Higher shadow settings create more detailed, realistic shadows with softer edges. Lower settings use simpler shadows but run faster. On low-end hardware, use lower shadow quality while keeping the feature enabled—the mod's soft shadow style remains visible even at reduced settings.

Monitor Frame Rate

After adjusting, spend time moving through different biomes and lighting conditions. Watch your FPS counter to ensure changes provide the performance you need. The goal is maintaining smooth gameplay while keeping the gentle, natural shadow aesthetic that defines Soft Shaders.
