Sleeping Bag Recipe Planning: Materials and Shaped Crafting
Shaped, Not Shapeless
Every sleeping bag uses a shaped crafting recipe. That means the position of each ingredient in the crafting grid is part of the recipe, and an identical set of items placed in the wrong arrangement will not produce a bag. When you set up the grid, match the recipe's layout slot for slot.
Planning for Multiple Bags
There are sixteen results to aim for, one per color: Black Sleeping Bag, Blue Sleeping Bag, Brown Sleeping Bag, Cyan Sleeping Bag, Gray Sleeping Bag, Green Sleeping Bag, Light Blue Sleeping Bag, Light Gray Sleeping Bag, Lime Sleeping Bag, Magenta Sleeping Bag, Orange Sleeping Bag, Pink Sleeping Bag, Purple Sleeping Bag, Red Sleeping Bag, White Sleeping Bag, and Yellow Sleeping Bag. Each is its own shaped recipe, so plan materials per color rather than assuming one recipe covers all.
Before you start, decide how many bags you actually need and in which colors. If you only need one, run that single recipe. If you are outfitting a group or several outposts, queue up the colors you want and craft them one at a time, keeping the grid layout consistent with each recipe.
Because the recipe is shaped, double-check the pattern before pulling the result out. A misplaced ingredient wastes the attempt. Once you have the layout memorized, repeating it for additional bags of the same color is quick, and switching colors only means switching to that color's recipe.
